Customer service is important, even when your business is based on the internet. In fact, in a lot of ways, customer service is even more important when your business is based on the internet. On the internet, you are competing with at least hundreds of similar websites who are all trying to sell in the same niche. What will set you apart from all of those other sellers? This is where customer service comes in! If you are able to communicate well with your customers and make them feel appreciated, they are more likely to continue buying from you. Many internet marketers have their businesses so automated that there is no personal contact with people at all, and then they wonder why they aren’t doing well. Never underestimate the importance of the “thank you” e-mail. This can be done in a completely automated manner; simply have an automatic message sent to all your customers thanking them for their purchase. You could do hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in repeat business this way. After all, everyone loves discounts. You might offer this in the form of a coupon code that they can enter on your site or you might offer them a personalized product or service if they respond to your mail directly.
If you want to provide good customer service you also have to make it easy for customers to contact you to leave feedback or ask questions. In fact, if you are difficult to contact, you may never make many sales in the first place. People are not going to trust you if they have no way to contact you.
Your customers want to know that you are a real person who is available if you need them. This means allowing them to contact you. Rather than thinking about this as more work or trouble for you, think of how it can improve your image and how many sales you make. Providing a certain amount of personal service is necessary if you want more customers. It isn’t a tough job to offer great customer service. As a matter of fact, it shouldn’t really take you that long to offer good customer service. You can probably accomplish what you need in as little as five to ten minutes a day, and such a small time commitment is more than worth it. These ten or fifteen minutes of caring could result in thousands of repeat sales. When you realize that there is very little involved in offering your customers a great buying experience, you have to ask yourself why you haven’t begun already? You having nothing to lose!
